Mr. Azim Kassam

Chairman

Mr Kassam joined the Board of Directors of Diamond Trust Bank in September 2017 and was appointed Chairman in January 2019. He started his career as a corporate lawyer in London with Linklaters before moving into investment banking, initially with Investec Investment Banking, and then with UBS Investment Bank, where he was a Director supporting M&A and Equity Capital Markets execution. He has lived and worked in London, New York and Hong Kong and is currently based in Kampala, where he founded and manages his own business. He has served on the boards of several companies and not-for-profit organisations. Mr Kassam obtained his undergraduate degree in Law from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University and an MBA (with Distinction) from INSEAD. He is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, the Institute of Directors (Kenya) and the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda.

Mr. Shaffiq Dharamshi

Non-Executive Director

Mr. Dharamshi, was appointed as a Non- Executive Director of Diamond Trust Bank Uganda Ltd on 20th August 2014. He is a professional banker with over twenty years of senior management experience in the Middle East and Africa. Mr. Dharamshi is the Head of Banking for the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), and responsible for providing oversight on operations of financial institutions in the AKFED portfolio across Asia and Africa. He also serves as a director on the boards of DTB Tanzania, Habib Bank Limited, Pakistan, Kyrgyz Investment and Credit Bank, Kyrgyzstan, First Microfinance Bank, Tajikistan, and DCB Bank, India. Prior to taking this position with AKFED, he was Senior Vice President, Wholesale Credit Risk Management at Mashreq Bank in Dubai. Before joining Mashreq Bank, Mr. Dharamshi spent 17 years with Citibank in a wide range of positions across different areas of the bank in Africa and the Middle East. Mr. Dharamshi holds an MSc. in Economics/Information Systems from the London School of Economics. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors (Kenya).

Mrs. Nasim Devji

Non-Executive Director

Mrs. Devji joined the DTB Group in 1996 following which she was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Trust Banks in East Africa in 2001. She is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, an Associate of the Institute of Taxation (United Kingdom) and a Fellow of the Kenya Institute of Bankers. She is also a member of the Institute of Directors (Kenya). Mrs. Devji is a director of DTB Tanzania, DTB Uganda, DTB Burundi, Jubilee Insurance Burundi, Diamond Trust Insurance Agency Limited and the Nairobi Securities Exchange Limited. She has also previously served as a member of the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Mr. Kenneth Kitariko

Non- Executive Director

Mr. Kitariko is an Investment Banker with over fourteen years of director-level experience in the financial services industry and at a leading pan African investment bank. He began his career as a lawyer in private practice and moved as General Counsel for the US treasury capital markets project where he developed an interest in the financial markets. He later joined African Alliance as the Head of securities and rose through the ranks and is currently the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of African Alliance Uganda. He has also been involved at a leadership level in the growth and development of the capital market industry in Rwanda. He joined the Board of Directors Diamond Trust Bank in May 2017.

Mrs. Jane Kabbale

Non-Executive Director

Jane Anyango Kabbale is a multidisciplinary professional with twenty-eight years of practical executive and senior-level experience in banking operations with skills to integrate strategic management, operational management, corporate governance, risk management, capacity building and coaching, project and fund management and management consulting services. Over the years, she has developed key competencies in project management and planning, corporate governance, business recovery planning and management, internal and forensic audits. Jane has a proven record of being a leader of integrity, efficient and successfully working with multi-disciplinary teams of different nationalities, backgrounds, and professions. She is currently involved in consultancy work in the public and private sectors.

Mr. Dalal Murtuzaali

Non-Executive Director

Mr. Dalal was appointed to the Board of Diamond Trust Bank Uganda Limited in December 2018. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a full member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. Mr. Dalal has vast experience in audit, accounting, tax and financial consulting having been a key member of the PKF East African team since 1996 including sixteen years as Managing Partner of PKF Uganda. He has also provided voluntary services to the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda where he served on the Education and Finance Committee, the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee and was also a Council member for many years. He therefore brings to the Board vast experience in the area of accounting, tax and financial consulting.

Jane Nankabirwa Kabugo

Non-Executive Director

Ms. Kabugo was appointed to the Board of Directors in August 2023. She is an IT Consultant and Entrepreneur. She has over 16 years’ experience in Banking Information Technology. She has worked as an IT Consultant with DFCU Bank and held various IT positions including Programme Manager Africa Core Banking Program at Standard Bank South Africa, Head Information Technology at Stanbic Bank Limited and Manager Systems at Uganda Commercial Bank Limited.

Ms. Kabugo holds a Masters in Banking and Finance for Development from Giordano Dell’Amore Foundation, a Post graduate diploma in Management Information Systems from Maastricht School of Management, a Bachelor of Statistics and Applied Economics from Makerere University and several Professional qualifications in Leadership Development, Banking and Information Technology.

Jamaludin S. A. Shamji

Non-Executive

Jamaludin S. A. Shamji was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Diamond Trust Bank Uganda Limited in July 2024. Mr. Shamji is a strong business development professional with demonstrated experience in the construction industry. He is the Chairman of the Kisii Municipal Board, a Member of the Kisii County Public Private Partnership Committee and the Kisii County Budget and Economic Forum Committee. He is also a Director of several companies including DTB Burundi, A. Jiwa Shamji Limited and Sansora Bakers and Confectioners Limited.

He has previously served on the various Boards including DTB Kenya, Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, the Aga Khan Health Services, and the Aga Khan Education Services in Kenya.

He holds a B.A. (Hons.) in Business Administration from Washington State University, U.S.A. He is a Fellow of the Kenya Institute of Bankers and a member of the Institute of Directors (Kenya).

Godfrey Sebaana

Managing Director

Mr. Godfrey Sebaana was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director in April 2024. Mr. Godfrey Sebaana is a seasoned banker with over 20 years’ experience in the banking industry. He was the Executive Director and Head Corporate, commercial, and industrial banking at Standard Chartered Bank Uganda.

During his extensive career, he has developed a broad experience in areas ranging from mergers, acquisitions, corporate advisory, and financial institutions management, across various industry segments including global and local corporates, SMEs, and retail. Mr. Sebaana is a qualified accountant (ACCA) UP and holds a Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Heriot- Watt University Edinburgh Business school.

Mbabazi. K. Emejeit

Executive Director

Mbabazi. K. Emejeit was appointed as the Executive Director of Diamond Trust Bank Uganda Limited in February 2021. Before this appointment, Mbabazi served as DTB’s Head of Legal and Company Secretary since March 2015. Prior to this appointment, she held the position of Head of Legal & Company Secretary at United Bank for Africa (UBA) Uganda from February 2010.

Before joining UBA, she worked in the Legal and Credit Departments at Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited and was an Associate at Magezi, Ibale & Co. Advocates. She holds an LLM (University of Cape Town), LLB (Hons) MUK, LP (LDC) and is a practicing Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all other courts subordinate thereto. She also has over ten years’ experience in banking.
